Several years ago, I found a children's book illustrated by Kjell Ringi and fell in love so deeply that I started to collect other books that he's either written or illustrated. These very special books are pages and pages of fanciful artwork and original imagery. I hope they make you smile!
These were the books I read and loved as a young child growing up in the Philippines. The author and puppet maker (IZAWA) is from Japan so I'm not entirely sure that these were readily available here in the States. But since you can find anything on Ebay, I successfully hunted these down just so that I could show my own kids a little part of me.
A couple of the pieces above are my first attempts at working with wire. I was inspired by an old craft book that devotes an entire chapter to mobiles and also studies and the incredible works of Alexander Calder.
In case you want to hunt this down, the craft book is called: The Illustrated Library of Creative Arts and Crafts Vol. 4
This precious old book is a copy of my very first childhood craft book. I rediscovered this beloved book recently at a thrift store. Oh how I love craft books and thrift stores! Thank you for reuniting us!
