This pot was purchased nearly 20 years ago at a student craft show. It has survived a dozen moves, has been stored and neglected for years, and then sadly relegated to being a lowly paint brush container. I've dusted it off, taken a second look and fallen madly in love!
I have not worked with ceramics since I was 13 years old. And I'm itching to shape and move clay in my hands. Recently, I did have the chance to experiment with the mysterious adventure that is glazing. In an attempt to mimic the tones of the above piece, I bought this pre-bisqued vase, selected earthen colors and crystalline glazes, painted, fired...and waited and waited. This is the result:
My interest in ceramics is now taking me to bookish research. There's a myriad of technical issues to consider and absorbing it all will take some time.
