This skirt is the result of a million imperfections, sloppy construction technique and a funny little idea.

Yet, this could be my favorite skirt I've ever made.
It's something I have been wanting to make for my own wardrobe. I have longed for stripes in different directions, and poofs and gathers in random places. But fabric costs always compel me to make miniature versions of fashion concepts.
And of course, this sewing project wouldn't be complete unless I had a coordinating outfit. My skirt sports a peekaboo stripey slip.

I must confess that the process of making the stripey skirt involved very little planning. Sewing can often be a very precise activity. This skirt, however, was more a sculpture than a sewing project. I cut large triangles and rectangles and joined them together. I did some basic handstitching to create bubble look and gathering effect. And I even put to use a very cutting edge technique called "scrunching". Yep. Its so cutting edge, that its not even taught in sewing classes yet. SCRUNCH SCRUNCH.
